Tier 1-  Extension (for the applicants who are in the UK in one of the following immigration Categories

  • Tier 1 (General), with leave granted before 6 April 2010
  • The Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP)
  • Writers, Composers and Artists
  • Self-employed Lawers

UK Equivalent Qualification (Maximum 50 points)

You will gain 30, 35 or 50 points for your qualifications.  you will gain an additional 5 points.

PhD - 50 points

Masters Degree (eg MA, MSc or MBA) or Professional Level Qualification (eg Chartered Accountant) - 35 points

Bachelor Degree (only applicable for extension of HSMP status) - 30 points

None of above - 0 points

UK Experience (maximum 5 points)

UK Qualification (If the qualification was gained in the UK) or earning over 16,000 in the UK per year  - 5 points

No UK Experience - 0 points

Previous Earning (Maximum 45 points)

Please state below recent earnings in the UK Currency. You will gain 20 to 45 points under this HSMP category depending on earning power and Country of residence.

Income over last twelve months within last 15 months in the UK Currency.

 

40,000 + earns 45 points
35,000 + earns 40 points
32,000 + earns 35 points
29,000 + earns 30 points
26,000 + earns 25 points
23,000 + earns 20 points
20,000 + earns 15 points
18,000 + earns 10 points
16,000 + earns 5 points

 

Age (Maximum 20 points)

If you are 34 years old or under you will gain points based on age.

30 or under - 20 points

31 and 32 - 10 points

33 and 34 - 5 points

35 or older - 0 points

Mandatory Requirements


1. Maintenance (Fund)

  Over for 1 year For under 1 year
Main Applicant 800 2800
Dependent (each) 533 1600

If you do not maintain this fund for over 3 months - not eligible.

 

2. You are proficient in English (this is based on scoring at least 6.5 score in IELTS or being resident of majority English speaking country or having the UK degree) 
 

If you are not proficient in English - not eligible

Note: Both of above requirements are mandatory. Regardless of meeting required points, if these mandatory requirements are not achieved, you are not qualified to success.
